The owners of the Baby Pearl range contacted me a while ago to assist with their product photography and I was more than excited to be involved with such a wonderful husband and wife team. Their vision for the photographs was really natural, lifestyle-type photos with a mom and tot, plus a range of product images. Other than this, I was given free reign and it was so rewarding to deliver these photographs after all the hard work that went into them.

The product itself is wonderful. Designed to be worn by moms, the chewable silicone (BPA and PVC free) necklaces/bracelets offer soothing comfort for teething babies. Besides providing relief to teething tots, the bracelets can be worn as a reminder of which side mom's have just nursed and are a great sensory tool to help babies focus whilst nursing. The beads themselves are easily cleaned with soap and water.

Thanks to some amazing friends, the following images are the result... and ones that I am *super* proud of too! We chose a clean 'home' setting for the photographs of Iris and baby Mia, and then a beautiful garden setting for Colinda and baby Gabriella. These ladies are really special to me and I was so happy that they were part of this project - thank you so much to both of you!

Bailey at 3 weeks

As with every shoot, there is a story behind this one too.

Shae and I met in standard 6. We disliked each other - or should I say seriously disliked each other. But life is such that we ended up best friends (amazing how that happens)... and years later, through school life, hating boys, then boyfriends, horrid spin the bottle memories, house parties, varsity, and all the other noise in our lives... we learned to be quiet together. We learned the art of not having to speak. And that is what I miss so much in a friend. There is a peace that grows between two people, in-between the sentences. So many of us find that in our loved one, husband, wife. But not very many of us find that in a friend.

And so it was that we grew up and I moved away. We got jobs, got married, and now one of us has a baby. Its so funny how life happens, without us even giving it a second thought. But we always stayed in touch. And when Shae had her baby, she allowed me to fly up especially to see Miss Bailey. The one thing that strikes me the most is how much Shae has grown up. She's a mommy now - and that is one of the most amazing things I have seen. We all see mommies with babies - but to see one of your closest friends with a new baby is a sight so amazing that it brings tears to my eyes.

I wanted these photos to document Shae and Bailey (oh, and a little bit of Grant too, sorry Granty). We thought about poses, and cute headbands, and even baskets. But that just didn't seem right.

So Shaki, I hope that you enjoy these - I love you to bits and thank you for allowing me to photograph something that is so precious to you. I hope these photos will bring you happiness and memories because if they do, then I was able to return the favour xxx

Eben - Stilbaai

I quickly snapped these pics of Eben a while back - and they are just too adorable not to share!

He is a real cutie, and every time I look at the photos I can still hear his mom saying 'Eben. No, don't do it Eben. Do not put that stone in your mouth. Eben...ah man!'. It still makes me giggle out loud every time I look at the 4th photo where he has dirt on his mouth because, believe it or not, there is a stone behind that cutsie smile... but who couldn't forgive a smile like that!

Benjamin and Georgina

Charlotte and I have been trying to coordinate a photo shoot of her two little ones for so long! The time finally came during my last trip to Joburg. Benjamin and Georgina are twins, and they are so so so gorgeous, I'm sure you will agree!

We spent a few hours together and I really think these photos are so special. Ben (you'll notice) was much more at ease with the camera, and he had a ball jumping for me and playing peek-a-boo from behind a gigantic tree. Georgie was much more reserved but she definitely let us know when she was having fun :)

Little Layla

Happy New Year everyone! May this year be the most spectacular to date, filled with love, laughter, good times... and good food! I'm really so excited to get going on this year as an established pro photographer - something I could only dream of in previous years. 2011 is going to be a lot of work, but one that I know will pay dividends far in excess of my wildest dreams... and I wish the same for each and every one of you! Thanks so much for your support throughout 2010 and I look forward to meeting a lot more of you :)

So, which post could kick off a New Year better than one filled with photos that make me smile every time I look at them. I hope they will do the same for you :)

Macenzie

Wow, I can't believe I managed to edit these photos in two days :) Macenzie is just too cute for words, so the hard work was totally worth it!

For the first half of the shoot she followed me around and smiled, showed me her model moves, and even her superpowers. Then she got bored and did her own thing - both of which made for awesome photos.

The shoot took place around 09h00 in the morning so it was pretty bright and the light was tricky... but we soldiered on nontheless :)

The most amazing thing about children is that they will always let you know when they are done... and just like Ella, Macenzie turned to us and told us she had had enough - all that was left to do was get her over the huge Sardina Bay dune and back to the car. Enjoy!

Ella Bean

Little Ella jumped, laughed, and giggled her way into my heart. And then she waved her hands at me sternly, saying 'no...more...phowto'. Cheeky munchkin but cute cute cute!

Zachy Boy

I had the privilege of photographing Rosanne and Ash's gorgeous little boy on an crisp Spring morning. And let me tell you, this was a bundle of energy if I have ever seen one!

 

 

Nothing can beat that laugh and those eyes...it was memorable Zachy boy, and the pleasure was mine xxx
